Farewell Arnold Palmer

Growing up, you could always find a pitcher of homemade sweet-tea and a pitcher of lemonade in my grandmother’s fridge. I later learned that mixing the tea and lemonade is also known as the Arnold Palmer, guess I met “Arnie” at grandma’s. Before knowing his golf legacy, I “met” him again at the grocery store. It was either a stroke of genius or a golf fanatic that encouraged Arizona Tea to bottle this perfection (it mixes well with other things too but I think that’s called a John Daly).

Arnold Palmer passed today at 87 years old. Aside from ordering an “Arnold Palmer”, exposure to this well-known golfer comes from the 300 plus golf courses he designed or remodeled. Two of his designs are on my bucket list Kapalua Golf Club – Bay Course in Maui, Hawaii and PGA West – Palmer Private in La Quinta, California. These courses are on my list because I wish to travel to play golf in these destinations. As an East Coast gal, golfing in Hawaii and California would be a dream come true.

As winter approaches, I seek out new books and genres to read because TV just doesn’t keep me entertained and without golf, I’m hobby-less. Sometimes I browse Amazon, visit Barnes and Noble (bookstores still exist) and go to the Library which now has an app!  The book that caught my attention was “Mentored by the King: Arnold Palmer’s Success Lessons for Golf, Business …” written by Brad Brewer. I enjoyed the chapter titles so much that I wanted to share them. In case you did not know, golf lessons are life lessons.
